It’s good to distinguish, in all of this healing work, the difference between healing and a cure.
A cure means the problem is gone.
Healing means that some measure of wholeness has been restored.
And, often, we don’t find a cure, but we do find healing.
“A good half of every treatment that probes at all deeply consists in the doctor’s examining himself… it is his own hurt that gives a measure of his power to heal. The doctor is effective only when he himself is affected. Only the wounded physician heals. But when the doctor wears his personality like a coat of armor, he has no effect.”— Carl Jung
