I first knew I wanted to be a nurse or doctor when I was a little girl of about 7 or 8. In a family with 3 big brothers and a neighborhood full of boys, my role became “the nurse” in our outdoor games of cops and robbers and any game where someone got hurt. (Yep, it was the 60s – what a great time to grow up. See how I date myself?)

My medicine of choice was jellybeans – the yucky ones. After all, medicine was supposed to taste bad. Everyone got yucky jellybeans. Cured. We all went home. Lo and behold, I was the caregiver. I realized that much of what we do (in relationships and careers) starts early. (See more…I’ll type the rest of that story and part of the healing practice I touch upon later for another page or something.)

Also, from a young age, I spent lots of time in my dad’s, gram’s, and farmer’s greenhouses. Medicinal plants fascinated me. I didn’t know what to do with them, but I always picked weeds and flowers. Life got busy, and my dreams of being a doctor or nurse faded.

Fast forward…

Like many of you, life just got ‘lifey’. I got sick, stressed, injured, and had many health problems. Lots of doctor visits, tests, biopsies, and medicine, and I was told it was just stress. I wasn’t getting better. The day after I got shots in my feet to help me walk without pain (it didn’t happen), I visited the local health food store, and my life changed. For three months, I was walking pain-free.

That was the beginning of my passion for healing. But that indeed was the beginning since I had lots of health problems. I had just completed 5.5 years of college for my business degrees, took 6 months off, and enrolled in different types of colleges for my Naturopath, Herbalist, and Nutrition degrees while working full-time. My heart sang with every course, workshop, seminar, and class I took (even to this day). It took another 5.5 years, and then I left my corporate job. That was 20+ years ago.

Now I teach folks about medicinal plants and natural medicine and help them get well and stay well using what we’ve been Blessed By Nature with. No, my health is not perfect, but like you, we’re all works in progress learning how to get well and stay well naturally. To be fair to the doctors way back then, I now understand that much of my poor health was likely stress-related and had its origins due to emotional pain. Taking meds just wasn’t the answer for me. I have learned that ‘stuffed’ emotions are a huge part of the healing journey. When our body, mind, and soul are balanced, everything starts to change and heal at a deep level. We learn how to connect the dots.

Sometimes it’s hard to remember, but there was a time before Blessed By Nature. I was a legal secretary and computer operator and worked at an environmental cleanup facility. I didn’t realize it then, but I was being prepared for my own healing journey, starting a business and using my experiences to help others.

I’ve learned there is always a lesson in our hardships. My dis-ease led me to where I am today. After much prayer and meditation, Blessed By Nature was born and has been by my side since 1999.

I didn’t know it when I used the yucky jellybeans as pretend medicine…that I was being prepared to be a ‘natural’ doctor and caregiver. Seeing how God prepares us every step of the way is lovely.
A little more personally…I was married for 38 years to a great man who passed away in 2018. We had 2 wonderful children, and I had 2 stepchildren. We shared 7 precious grandchildren and a brand new great-grandchild in July 2023. I love love, love being a grandmother. I remarried during Covid 2020 and sadly divorced in 2022.

For sure, life continues being “lifey,” and by the grace of God, we heal and move along. Understanding how my body, mind, and soul must be balanced helps me daily, especially during hard times.

But enough about us (Blessed By Nature and me)! We’d love to know about you and possibly help YOU! Tell us your story if you’re ready to be in touch, or spend some time checking our website first.
